I put new refills on my ’68 and now the door won’t close down flush with the fenders like it did before. Ever have this happen, and what refills did you use to correct the unsightly problem?
I changed mine (69) a while ago and had a slight interference problem too. I worked with the linkage and adjustments until it worked good. I found a few loose/sloppy points. I could not see any difference in the old blades. Not sure why this happened but it was a PIA.
Some of the refills I've seen have too much "arch" compared to the originals. Had the same problem with my car. Finally found some NOS Trico's which fit great. Chuck

I had the same problem too. I'm just happy my wiper door closes and my wipers work. :D To get the door to close completely, I have to push the top arm under slightly and then the door will close. I'm using Anco refills, I think. I have bigger fish to fry right now. I'll address the wiper door later.
Had the very same problem with a 70 I had. I replaced the blade only, leaving the correct metal. This was the way I solved the problem. I hope this helps.

Thanks guys… I thought I was losing it. I’ll either hunt down some NOS blades or try the ones John used.

I ordered some triple blade refills for my '69 and had the same problem with the door hitting the wipers. I posted a question on the Tech Board at NCRS and got several replies that nothing except original Trico refill blades would work.
On a whim I ordered a set of wiper blades, part WW-225 from Zip. They were complete wiper assemblies and they too had the same problem. After examining them closely, I bent the tab at the end and removed the wiper blade with it's chrome metal piece. I carefully removed the rubber from the chrome metal piece, and did the same on my original blade.
I next inserted the new rubber into the old chrome metal piece, inserted the locking piece, and put it into the old wiper assembly. The rubber piece that holds the blade in the metal piece is not as wide as the original, but I have not had any trouble with them coming out of the chrome metal piece. Ther is sufficient clearance for the wiper door to close.
The WW-225's were $9.00 each, but at least they work!

Unfortunately I could not come up with the information on the blades I just installed. I trew away the packaging and didn't write down the numbers. The next time I am in Pep Boys I will try and remember which ones I bought. Should be soon...oil change time. I'll keep you posted.
