Default i need to pull the converter :/

Traced my vibration issue down to the torque converter. When I unbolt the converter from the flexplate and rev the engine my vibrations are gone.

I've spoken to the tranny company and they suggested rotating the converter and trying a different bolt pattern. I agreed to do this and it hasn't improved anything. They agreed to send me a new one.

700r4 behind a sb in a 78, am I going to have to drop the whole transmission to get this converter out? Judging by the space between the firewall and the tranny there isn't much room to just slid the tranny back and change the converters. Never had to change the converter on the vette as the engine/tranny went in together brand new. Looking for any tips.. (and dreading the cooling lines)..

Yep, either the motor has to go up and forward or the transmission has to go down or back. No getting around that one.

I think transmission would be easier.

one or the other has to come out of the way to get tthe converter out.
Probably overall easier to drop the tranny, especially since there is the removeable crossmember

Make sure you get the back spacing correct when you install the new one and remove any paint that might be on the part that goes into the crank.
