Default Engine Misses when lights are on

My 80 model starts missing any time the lights are on. Once they're turned off, the car runs fine. The light switch was replaced prior to my buying the car. What else could cause the miss? Possible vacuum leaks due to the headlights being activated? Maybe the new switch is bad? Thanks

Sounds like a definite vacuum leak. have you looked at the vaccum hoses under the dash?

could also be a weak alternator- happened with my brother on his nova. I'd prob check the voltage output real quick and then look for a leak.

Deffinately sounds like a vac. leak. Plug the main vac. line from the intake manifold and turn on the lights. If the car still misses its probably your alternator. If the car does not then you have to go in search of the leak which is in the headlight vac. circut. Good luck! You will need it.
Here is a helpful troubleshooting page.

Pull the vacuum override for the headlights. Deal, or no deal?

BigBird: Does pulling the bypass eliminate ALL vacum from the scenario when you pull out the headlight switch?

No. It will be the same as turning on the headlights without power. Hence, vacuum vs power drain.
If the car misses, it's vacuum.
