Default What will nitrous do to my Hooker headers?

So...

A recent post inspired me to write my question. I've had a NOS system similar to this that I purchased for my L-48. Now I have a 502 with Hooker sidemount headers.

Its a 250hp two stage. What will it do to my nice crome headers?

They will turn a nice blue and yellow color for about a foot to 18 inches after a couple runs.

I paid a little more for the ceramic coated ones to try and avoid this. Only problem is that they are crap too. Already small rust specs at the collector area. I wish I had bought the polished stainless ones. (actually I don't think they were out yet when I bought mine).
Red-Shift: Have fun with that thing. A 502 and 250 shot sounds like a bunch of fun to me !

I will never buy coated headers again, I plan on getting painted headers and having them coated by a local shop. Quality from a good coating shop is much higher than from an assembly line. My ceramics had developed rust spots in about a month.

That's about how long before mine started showing up. Pathetic!

Not sure about the headers, but yes a 502 with a 250 shot is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the replies everyone. So let me get this straight. Having the nitrous will not 'blue' my headers any more then the engine would have without the juice? There is no additional damage there? I pictured those headers getting so hot from the horsepower-in-a-bottle that the chrome would really fall apart or something.

New thought... I bet the zz502 crate engine was not built for nitrous. I might have to change pistons.

oh but they are. they already have forged pistons and good rods. now 250 that might be a bit much. 150 all day. that is what i was looking to do but don't have the $$ for that stuff. i had to by a 468 that makes 515ft/lbs and 480 hp if i need more i can spray it i guess. but yeah the zz bottom end is very strong, 250 strong, i don't know.
