Default vapor return line clogged

Any body have any ideas on unplugging a vapor return line! I am running a electric fuel pump on my 69 vette with a ZZ4 and want to send the extra fuel back to the tank so my pump doesnt die. Ive heard that electric pumps like to "" run" . The line was capped up many years ago but now I want to use it but its clogged. I tried to roto rooter it with some wire but that didnt work. I could run a new line but that would be a real PIA. Thanks

A compressor, a piece of fuel line, and some really good hose clamps?

I thought that electric fuel pumps should be as close the the gas tank as possible. If so, could you not just tap into or run another line from there?

Why are you using an electric pump?

I don't believe you should use the vapor line as a return line. Someone else should chime in, I have just been told it's a no-no and don't know exactly why. You're connecting the return line to a regulator I assume?

I believe the line in question is a return line not a vapor line. I am also guessing he really means "return" line.

My recommendation would be to plumb the pump next to the tank and run a new return to the tank or splice into the existing line or just go with a mechanical pump with a regulator.

Why would you need a regulator on a return line??

It sounds like your return line is toast and running a new line is a PITA. You don't need an elecrtric pump for a carb application which I assume you are running.

Thanks for all the help! Ill try the compressed air and good hose clamp idea . The pump is located in the back . I put the electric pump in when I installed the zz4. I have headers and air and it gets a little tight on that side when you want to change the plugs . Not having the regular pump there gives me more room to work with.

If you're going to blow the air towards the fuel tank, remember to take off the fuel filler cap. A buddy of mine forgot to do that, and ended up with a 40 gallon fuel tank !!
