So... I'm 'working' from home so I can take my fiance to LAX so she can fly back the Oz for a couple of weeks and I'm on a little bit of a downer on the road home... so I park her civic and get the toolbox out and set to on the vette!
I stripped the passenger seat and seatbelt - the damn seatbelt base mechanism has been jammed since i bought the car. I stripped the seat, cleaned it and rebuilt it and found... low and behold... (Big2Bird - you reading?) ... loose screws... so now is all as it should be there and back together again all working better than before...
Then i turn to the seat belt.... I stripped the lower mechanism, freed the spindle and cleaned the belt, oiling the spindle and rebuilding it... took a bit of patience but now it's working again after I don't know how long being jammed.... so I guess this afternoon I saved myself 300 bucks by not ordering a new set of belts... the mystery of why seatbelts are so damn expensive remains a mystery but one I'll not loose sleep over now!!!
And it's not that hard really if you sit down and get into it... the magic is in penetrating oil and silence....and begin able to have a car sea in bits in the loung and a seat belt in bits in the kitchen sink without worrying about anyone coming home to find them there!!
I think while the seat is out the heater core will be attacked this weekend!!

I'll post pics of the rims when they're on the car.... which should be monday/tuesday hopefully...
As for working on the car... I think our new rule is... 'If I haven't actually touched that aprt before; I'd beter check see if it's actually tight first!"
Like Big2Bird said... the guy who rebuilt the engine did a good job but by the time he got it all together again it was lunchtime and after his 'high'-noon smoke... he forgot to tighten the damn thing! Then he sold it....
