Cracked intake manifold
Well what I initially thought was a bad heater hose turns out to be a cracked intake manifold on my 81 vette. This is the original manifold and I really don't understand how it could have possibly cracked. Anyone here know if this is a problem with the 81's. Also, any suggestions on finding a replacement or things to be aware of when I replace it would be greatly appreciated.

Assume it's cracked where the heater hose fitting screws into the intake manifold. Only thing I can think of is that this fitting was over tightend to stop a leak, and it screwed into the manifold far enough to crack it. I put permatex thread sealer on the fitting threads when I install this fitting, to help avoid coolant leaks in this area. There probably are a lot of corvette salvage yards with a used OEM aluminum intake for the '81. I have mine in a box, right now, since I am running an Edelbrock Performer Intake.
