I have a 1969 small-block coupe (4 speed) and am looking to choose a set of headers. Hooker super comp 2134s look fine. Does anyone know of any problems? I plan to install VB and P's performance plus susoension. Will these headers clear this setup? Any other headers I should consider? Thanks
I just installed some Dynomax on my 73. They were a very good fit, easy to install and look great. I'm sure the Hookers would be a great choice too, they have always been known for quality.
I don't know about the '69 but I installed Hedman Elite's on my 79 L82 just a few weeks ago. Was a very easy install, didn't require any extra alt or AC brackets, and has the ball type pipe connectors that don't require gaskets. The only down side was that I had to use the correct short Vette oil filter and shorty spark plugs.
Check out Sanderson Headers...they are as good or better than any on the market. They have thickest flanges I've seen on any brand so they won't leak or have the bolts back out.
2nd vote here for Hedman Elite's. get them ceramic coated and the ball socket ensures a nice fit to the remaining exhaust system. you want a header with both the thickest tubing and thickest flange for which Hedman Elites are the only one I know of that give you both.
