Been poking around my engine compartment looking for a good 12 volt ignition switched wire I can tap into without having to route a wire to the fuse box to power a HEI Distributor.
Found this 10 Gauge red ignition switched wire near the drivers side window attached to a small device which I have no ideal what the purpose is. It would be great if I can just tap into this, it would make dropping in this new distributor I purchased with the group buy pretty painless.
What does the collective think? This is for a 73 vette BTW.
All GM cars have a 12ga pink wire from the fuse block to the ignition switch at the base of the steering column. It's a pain to work on (especially on a Vette) but this is the best and most reliable power source available to power the HEI. Splice an additional 12ga wire into the pink wire, solder & heat shrink the connection, and run the new wire through the firewall either through an existing grommet or install a new grommet.
