Does anybody have a magic trick to get the long line that runs from the dist block up front to the rear. I've got one of these pre bent ones and there looks like there is no way. It's a 4 speed car so the crossmember is there. The only solution I see is to make it a 2 peice line. Any help would be appreciated!
On my 77, I disconnected both ends and worked it forward to clear crossmember then fished it out towards the rear. Install the reverse. Didn't have to bend anything very much!
there is no trick; on a 74, a replacement SS line went in okay and SS is less flexible than factory steel lines. unless you have a lift, just jack the car up as high as you safely can. the clamp bolts/screws are close quarters, but that's it . . . just do it as they say . . .
When I did my brake lines almost 10 years ago, I didn't bother with that line because it's such a PITA. I kept the new line, and I'm going to do it now that my car is about two feet in the air on jackstands...
Seriously though...get the car up as high as you can. Be patient. keep pushing and twisting at different angles and it should go through. On my '77 I had to bend the line just a little bith to get it through...
I heard the Tech Director of our local Corvette club (Classic Corvettes of Minesota) is a having the first tech session of the season this Saturday, and the topic is C3 brake lines.
I plan to attend if I get my master cylinder replaced in time. Do you want me to take notes and pics if I attend? Or do you need to know now?
