I started the '79 last night! Woo-hoo! FInally after 3 1/2 months of work :smash: , the new crate engine came to life. I still have plenty of work to do (i.e. vacuum lines, tranny cable, differential bushing, alignment, exhaust install) before she is driveable. Well, maybe I can do without the exhaust install. :) She is running open headers for the moment. When I shut her off and walked out of the garage last night, the dog ran away from me. He must have sensed the power which I now posess. :reddevil Mmmmwwwwaahaahaahaa... I'm going to work on getting the same reaction from my next-door neighbors tonight when I break in the cam. :D If any of you are getting frustrated :mad with your project that seems like it will never end, I can assure you that when you hear that new engine count off those first few explosions then roar to life, shake the ground, and put the fear of God into anyone in earshot who owns a pony-car, all those long evenings of rounded bolt-heads, and skinned knuckles will have been a small price to pay. Thanks to everyone who helped me during this project, especially Osiris77 for his help loading the engine/tranny into my truck, and taking me for rides in his '77 when I was having severe 'No-Corvette Anxiety". Thanks again guys.
I wanna see the numbers! The closest dyno to me is about 2 hrs away, but its very near my fiance's parent's house. "Sure, sweetie, we can go see your parents this weekend." :D I'll have numbers in a couple of weeks. :chevy
[QUOTE]Mine is going to the chassis dyno as soon as I am done typing in this message.[QUOTE]
I want numbers too. So.............what do you think?.......We know you have driven it..................................A friend came over the other day to pick up his engine hoist that I borrowed and we went over to his shop. There was some really nice smooth concrete outside and we just sat there and burned off about 10,000 miles off my tires. Couldn't resist. He is putting a sweet 454 into his Chevelle.....Merlin heads and all...should be a real hoot.
