Hi guys
I am having proplems with my Edelbrock performer 600cfm 1405 Carb. and I am wondering if I shouldn't get a new one.( dripping inside)
What would you suggest? I was thinking of a Edelbrock 750cfm or 800cfm? or the Edelbrock AVS Thunderseries 650cfm. 800cfm?
I have a Performer manifold on. The rest looks pretty much stock, but no idea what is inside since I got it second hand. I don't know what cams are in.( how would I find out without taking the engine out?) Eventually I can fix the old one. but in case not, what would you suggest? a bit more power wouldn't hurt the L48 gearbox is stock.
p.s. put a oversize K&N airfilter on top, best investment sofar
If it's dripping raw fuel inside, chances are the float level is too high, or there's some trash in the needle and seat. I've got a pair of these for my BB, and they were a real PITA- I had to use some short rubber lines and the steel line scraped the rubber- little bits got in the needle/seat and made them run over. Once I got it all cleaned out, things were good.
I'd check that first- way cheaper than buying a new carb.
No carb will increase power on a stock L-48. A tuned carb will always increase power over a out-of-tune one. IMHO, the best carb is the one GM put on the car, a 750cfm Q-Jet.
