Default Plug wire removal???

I think we've been here...but here goes....Being it'll be in the 70's today (finally ) I want to remove and re-dress the plug wires over the valve covers....last go around wires 5 6 7 8 were easily removed, 1 2 3 4 were "stuck" pulling from the plug side...these are not originals, the originals were obviously cut out and these are replacement 8.5's
Is there a channel these 4 wires run in that I need to remove and how do I do so?
Thanks from the old guy

Do he wires run under he manifold? THere's a couple of clips that hold the wires away from the exhaust. If they've been replaced, someone may have used zip ties to hold them.

If the originals were cut out as you say it sounds like the Boomerang covers are still there, I hate those things, PITA to work with.
There is one bolt shared with the motormount I believe and annother one easier to deal with. Remove that stuff and put it in the 'for sale box". Get some nice looms that go on the outside valve cover bolts and make a nice cut and dress to fit set of wires dressed in from above.

everyone has an opinion on wire routing. while most run them over
the top i prefer them down the back of the block and through the boomerangs as GM intended. to me it cleans up the top of the engine
and sort of unclutters the engine compartment so you can see the exhaust manifolds/headers if you go that route better.

also its only the 1,3,2 and 4 wires that have to run through the boomerangs and with the boots removed its not really that hard
of a job to complete.

OK, guys, thanks...I started early and even tho I couldn't stand up straight after the ordeal (back problems from youth) I got them out...yes, the boomerang on the drivers side was fairly easy, on the pass side, someone put the wires under the starter support and with my pulling from the top, they got stuck between the block and the support...with some patience, and removing the dist cap side boots, I eventually slid them thru and out....
I will be heading out shortly to acquire Accel valve cover looms, and run the wires along the bottom of the covers....my preference, I just like the look...considering the headers and all, just makes sense...
Thanks again, you guys always come thru
