someone was talking about cutting open the scoops thru the two pcs of chrome trim on a BB hood to let in fresh air/or hot air out. Anyone ever tried this or heard of any one doing it? It seems like it would not be noticeable , as the centers of the trim are painted black.
Except for having water get dumped in whenever you wash it or if drivin' in the rain, sounds like a good idea. Along with cutting out the black part, you might install some screening... Would look "finished" and still be functional.
If you check the location, I think you'll find that the proposed openings will just relieve air coming up the face of the radiator and allow it to escape without going thru the radiator.
It will defeat the seals around your fan shroud and on top of the radiator frame (if you have one).
If you check out the C5Rs that run Daytona, Lemans, etc, the opening is behind the radiator to exhaust the heat before it gets to the block. It probably introduces a bit of downforce also.
My BB hood with louvers is just coming out of the paint shop this weekend. I'll post some pics next week.
