I read a thread that Camaro seat belts would fit in a C-3.
Presently I have generic seat belts.
What I don't like about them is the fact the belt side at the console falls to the floor when not being used and is a pain to get the belt up to buckle.
Factory belts have the plastic seat belt bucket sleeve as it's called.
The plastic piece that sticks up at the console.I'd have to buy them.
Paragon has them for $35 pr.
Do the Camaro belts match up with the plastic piece at the console?
Where can I get the Camaro belts?
Are you doin' new shoulder straps as well? My original seat belts are intact, dirty but intact. I spoke to one of the owners of mine and he said he threw away the shoulder straps because he didn't use them and they were really dirty. :cry
Thanks Jon
No Jon just the lap belts.
I have black generics which I really don't mind too much.
It's the lack of the plastic buckle sleeve I miss.
Going that route I need to go with the bright blue Paragon generic belts and sleeve.
All subject to the buckle fitting in the plastic sleeve which Paragon said they'll check before shipping.
Just for the info my Camaro seat belts slipped right into the sleeve of the 72. It fits real well and I feel more secure with the shoulder strap. Slightly more cumbersome than the lap belt but I feel better about it
I guess I'm confused. Can someone tell me what my options are for my '69. Like I said above, my seatbelts are ok, but I want the option of the shoulder belts. Are they the same for '68-?. Coupe and Convertable? Does the camaro replace the whole thing and bolt right in? What year?
Unfortunately, There were no provisions for the rectrators on my cars (shoulder belts were optional in 69) but the reinforcement in there on the body, just above the frame. I drilled out that area and installed a grade 8 bolt with fender washers on the reinforcement. Its just a little more work.
As for the floor side, the camaro belts I received were very short. I had to slide the seat all the way back to get access. And of course, it didn't have the boot so it always slid down under the seat. I solved the problem at Carlisle: I brought the two belts into Snake Oyl and asked them to reweb those 2 parts with an additional 2 inches and then to add the boot. The pair cost me around $80, which brought my whole lap belt installation to around $150. Not too bad considering I now have a very factory looking, effective, lap belt system.
Believe past posts on this topic have indicated 'F' body cars (camero and firebird), 1993 and later model, rear seat belts are what will work. Understand that they can be found in many salvage yards around the country.
