Default Bad starter

Last week I posted a question about an electrical problem I was having with my 80 coupe not starting.I want to let you all know that the problem was a bad starter, but I really wanted to say that I took the starter to Autozone to have it tested but it passed, took it to pep Boys for a second test, also said it was good but it really sounded bad so I purchased a new one and that took care of my problem.Moral of the story; don't always believe the test results,it worked on the bench test but not on the car. Also my thanks to those who have given some suggestions for chasing the problem.

I have had alternators PASS, but have bad diodes. Their tests are mediocre at best.
