Hey gotta an '81 and was trying to find a solid axle housing kit or set up for the car? I have tried all the obvious places Moser, Strange, and Currie Ent. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in adance.
There aren't any "Bolt-in Kits" available that I am aware of but there some that are pretty close.
I spoke with Tom Reyer at Chassis_warehouse@yahoo.com
He is the Manager of Autofab Race Cars.
He emailed me some pics and his prices were in line with CACHASSISWORKS.com who also offer the components such as the 9" housings and 4-link setups.
You will need welding skills or have access to someone who does.
Keep me posted on what you decide to do as this is my next project.

I don't think ANYBODY has a 'kit' that makes this a weekend job, but here is the story (complete with finished pictures ) of a Forum-member who had the work done for him at a chassis-shop in just 4 days:

Tom emailed me and said they now have plans for a C3 kit. Here are a couple of pics of one they just finished.

..... any-ideas on exactly 'what' is included in autofab's kit (i.e. ~ correct-length housing with back-support braces and matching-length axles, bracketry, 4-link bars, brakes, etc. )?

Thanks-in-advance!!!!!
They said they have all the measurements for a C3 that would enable them to fab a 9" axle with back-brace and axle tubes. From there it depends on which housing, axles, ends, brakes etc. that you would prefer. Give them a call or email. Tom Reyer is who emailed me.

Guys thanks a ton for the insight on the rearends! Very good pics and helpful ideas. Just wonder how bad the ride might be with the solid axle?
Going with a 496 stroker and big spray, so I am looking at close to 1,000hp, hence the solid axle set up. I will run a 12 bolt IRS if it will hold. Got an 82 T/A now with a 422 stroker and 150 shot (700hp) and set it up with a 9 inch under it and it does great! Just might put it in the vette and run the BB in the T/A. Thanks again.

.....from what "I" understand, the 12-bolt swap into the '80-'82 Dana-44 housing isn't possible (I hope I am wrong ) but OK in pre-'79 cars, and why I am still looking at a solid-axle conversion into my '82.....
