This is a 78SA with tilt/tele. The indicator stalk (blinker handle) rotates in the column assembly in each direction when used to indicate L&R. This rotation is about 1/8th of a turn so when using the indicator, the handle (which has a bend half way along) rotates first before it begins to move the turn signal swtich.
Is this likely to be wear in the handle or the dimmer pivot? (it is Vin....02226 so I guess it is the early style pivot)
I'm not real familier with this particular turn signal lever/dimmer pivot. Since the pivot is basically plastic I would guess that the problem is in the pivot more than the lever itself. Pull the lever straight out of the pivot and inspect it. I think that the pivot is still available through GM and other Corvette sources.
I have a 79 with the same problem. Is the pivot a hard part to replace. Is it easy to replace with coloum in car or easier to live with the problem....
