Default Starter for a '75

Hello,
I'm new to Corvette Forum and I need some help. See, my dad has recently been diagnosed with cancer and he won't be discharged for another 2 or 3 weeks. His passion lyes in his Corvette and he was working on getting it running when he was diagnosed. His only request was to drive his car one last time, in case he doesn't make it through this. I'v been working on the wiring. They're have been a lot of wiring repairs that I've done but there is one problem that I am unable to figure out. He was replacing the starter when I got to it and he had it completely pulled out and the wires are pulled out all over the place.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for a '75 Corvette - Automatic - No A/C. Even a hand drawn diagram would be of great help. I really appreciate it.

Thank you
Mike

This is no deal. There is the battery cable, usually 2 wires that have big terminal ends, these all go on the battery terminal on the starter. There is also a smaller wire (10 ga, usually purple) that goes on the terminal closest to the block. If there is another, it'll go on the outboard small terminal..

There should also be a support that'll go from the front of the starter to the block, and some Vettes have a gound strap that goes from that to the frame.

My prayers are with your Dad..

Do you think there is anyway you could draw me a little diagram? I've had a few people try to explain the starter connections to me, but I'm not very mechanical. It's a lot easier for me to understand things through a picture. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Mike

Woodduck06,

I have the starter out of my 75, if Tim's picture doesn't help I'll put the wires on mine temporarily and take a picture. Post if you need it.

Ok, so I got the wires that go to the starter pretty much figured out but I can't figure out where they go to from the starter. He was changing the Engine Harness when he left so a few wires are missing. I have a Wiring Diagram and there's a wire that changes from orange to red to purple (I think those are the colors) and it's wiring like that that I don't understand. I really appreciate all the responses from everybody. It really means a lot to me. Thank you so much.

The 2 wires from the battery terminal on the starter go back into the harness, both feed different parts of the car- I think 1 goes to the inside and the other goes underhood. Your wiring diagram should show them. I'd make a copy of it, then take a colored highlighter and start drawing. Use green for one side and yellow for the other. Just follow the wires and see where they go on the diagram. I use the highlighter method when I'm working on aircraft wiring or hydraulics. Makes it much easier to see what's going on.
