Heres a picture to tide you over( its not really great) These are made by Hooker headers- great looking, great at sucking hp out of an engine with stock mufflers.
Click on my URL below to hear and see a better picture of mine. JCL spiral baffles are very efficient and remove the heretofore dilemma of having to choose between LOUD open pipes for power, versus muffled and emasculated.
NO! I almost have the interior completed, seats and back carpet not in yet. It is looking very good; BUT, no time lately to finish it! :mad I shouldn't complain. There are alot of newly designated non-profit groups out there now. I guess being busy is good.
I did get the tach and speedometer hooked up which really feels like an accomplishment. They work with no bounce. But, my #8 spark plug has oil on it, all the others look great. I suspect I have a manifold leak. The engine doesn't have the smoothness off idle that it should. I'm only pulling 7.5-8" of vacuum. I expected a few inches more. I guess I'll know if I see oil in the head's intake port. Always something. Two steps forward and one step back.
I can't post any pic right now, but if you have $2,000 to spend then the chrome 1969 stock sidepipes sound and look the best, as well as provide around 40% more HP. Actually, it looks like Ra has the '69 style covers which are chrome plated aluminum...you can also get fiberglass replica covers for $300 from most of the mail order corvette part stores.
Hi Scorciae...The pipes for mine were shipped on Wed and I am driving down to NH next weekend to pick them up. I got the stainless kit with fibreglass covers. I will posts some pics of the finished product and I will post an audio file on my website.
Hookers are a good inexpensive choice. If you go with these DON'T get the reverse flow inserts , get either glasspacks (~$100) or spiral baffles (~$300). With these be prepared to burn your leg at least once. :flag
I have had both Hooker and GM Factory side pipes, and I would take the Factory. As far as performance is concerned, Hooker is the way to go, but they rust out fast, and look bad quickly, if you drive your car a lot. I could not keep paint on the black ones, and the chrome started to rust the first day they were on the car. The Factory pipes lasted about 15 years. I used the fiberglass side covers, and painted them to match the car. They looked great and no one burned their legs on them.
I went with the Hookers and had them Jet Hot coated for a lasting shine and rust prevention. I have reverse flow mufflers in them but will go with spirals by the time I put it on the road.
