Door lock is sticky
Sometimes it won't even unlock, like today, I had to take the seat out, door panel off and fool around with the mechanism and it unlocked.
I disconnected the rod from the door handle so there was no pressure on the mechanism. It takes a way more force than normal to unlock it. It gets worse after I use the inside door release to open the door. Then I have to rattle the lock back and forth real hard before it unlocks. I have lubed everything up good and it remains the same, very hard to unlock.
Might be a good time to take the mechanism out, solvent clean it real well and lube with white Lithium grease. Then go from there. The lock rod may be bent a bit to far, hole in the lever wallowd out a bit to much. Takes tome tinkering sometimes
On the 77, I had the same problem with the passenger side door. After searching it and staring at it for a while, we discovered that the door handle was not releasing all the way. This was causing the latch mechenisim not to retract all the way causing the lock not to release.
Trypushing up on the door handle rod and try to unlock it. Then use the outside door handle while the door is locked, then try to unlock it.
I ended up having to remove the door handles and I used the spring off the old door handle on the new one along with cleaning the handle and it works fine now.
Mine worked fine until I hooked up the rod from the power lock actuator. Now it is hard to unlock. In my case it is misalignment or a bent actuator rod, maybe the same for you. I haven't fixed it yet so I don't have an answer.

I might take the whole mechanism out, how hard is that to do ?
I know about the handle and having too much pressure on the lock and it won't release, like I stated above I disconnected the handle completly and it is still way too sticky

It takes about a day to remove all the door guts and re install. Don't mess with the windows if possible. Re aligning those are a PITA.
