Z-bar to Frame Ball Stud Question

How the hell do you tighten the damn nut on the ball stud for the z-bar on the frame bracket? The stud just spins in side the z-bar when I try to tighten it.

My stud has 2 flat spots on it and it slids into the slot on the bracket. This prevents it from turning. Don't know what yours looks like but mine does not spin at all.

Here is a picture of that stud. You can see the flat sides where it sits down in the bracket. The lock is to keep the nut from backing off.

Thanks guys. I thought that was the case. My stud was rounded off. I remembered I had ordered another one a while back and luckily I found it. Worked like a charm.
