I was just offered a 1975 vette in average condition (with a broken auto trans, turbo 400 I think and the air conditioning does not work) whats it(the car ) worth? whats a rebuilt ready to bolt in turbo 400 trans and torque converter worth? where are the best sorces for the trans, converter,?
Look for the last 5 of the VIN# stamped on the front right of the engine block just in front of where the head bolts onto the deck. The tranny should have the VIN# too stamped on it. If they are the same as the VIN# on the car then it's original and worth something, especially if it's a convertible. If the numbers don't match then it's worth less than $6,000 in average condition...probably more like $4,000 if it has high miles on it.

I would not call a car with a broken tranny and the A/C not working in AVERAGE condition! A/C not working is kind of common so that could be call average, but not with a bad tranny....
