Spedo gear change

I just had a new set of gears installed (3:73) do I need a new gear in the trans (4sp) for the sreedometer to be correct?

Yes, you need a new speedo driven gear with any rear ratio change for accurate speedometer readings.

#22 or onn with 22 teath, I notice the come color coded, is each color coraspond to a different rear end ratio??

If you ever want to check these, we have the 4 speed charts listed under our repair help section. Just enter the year, then repair help and search for speedo. They are there for all 1968-1977 cars.

22 tooth silver gear. There is a 22 tooth green gear also, not sure if there is a difference. I used the silver 'cause it looked better with my blue 'Vette!!!

It seems to be close, but I haven't been out with my wife following me to give it a check. It was also recommended that I go 120mph on the highway till I find a State Trooper...he'll tell me EXACTLY how fast I was going!!!
