Hello,
I have a 72 Corvette that I put a Billet true trac pulley set-up on it. They use a newer power steering pump. (New Aluminum Power Steering Pump (Sweet MFG.) with AN Fittings (-6 &-10) Flow Tested and Pre Set to 850psi ).
I got all the air out of the system and when I start the car the wheels turn right
THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT NUT ON THE CONTROL VALVE ON THE STEERING LINKAGE, ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. JACK THE CAR UO, PUT IT ON STANDS, LOOK ON THE END OF THE VALVE, THERE IS A TIN CAP THAT POPS OFF AND UNDER IT IS A 7/16 NUT. IF THE WHEELS GO RIGHT TURN THE NUT ABOUT 1 TURN TO THE RIGHT (IN) START THR CAR AND ADJUST THE NUT TILL THE WHEELS CENTER THEMSELVES.
THATS IT
The shop manual says to disconnect the assist cylinder from the frame before adjusting and balancing the control valve. You then watch the cylinder rod for movement in and out of the cylinder as you turn the control valve nut. This eliminates the friction in the ball joints, linkage, gear, and steering column and provides a more accurate balance.
