My drivers window is out of alignment. I've read where you can lower the front which will raise the back but can you adjust in and out. If I run
my finger across the top of the window with it closed the window sits in the groove in the weather stripping. As it gets towards the back of the window it comes out of that groove. I need the window to tilt inward in the back. Any adjustments for that?
Don't be afraid to elongate some of the adjusting slots if it looks like it will help. Many of the weatherstrips and other parts that have been reproduced over the years are just off enough to make it necessary to "get creative ". Don't forget that some of the weatherstripping can also be adjusted. The good news is, that if you are patient and fool with it enough, it is possible to get a leak and draft-free C3. There's a procedure in the AIM, but if you have good mechanical common sense, you can do fine without it.
The Assembly Manual has the best instructions for making door glass adjustments. It's the process used on the assembly line. Get the AIM, read through the instructions and illustrations a time or two, and have at it.
:)
Must be getting colder outside
I'm getting ready to tackle the exact same project this weekend :smash:
Good luck!
Please let me know what you find.. where you find the adjustmenst and what works best. I have the A.I.M. book and service manual and will be reading up on it this weekend..but won't be able to start on it.
Check the archives from spring 2000. I posted a bunch of really long winded discriptions of the window adjustment process - along with photos. It's relatively straight forward and not difficult - just requires a lot of patience and fiddling to get it just right.
Ok here's how it went,
Took off door handle, lock ****, disconnected power lock button, slid miror remote through hole, removed door panel. Losened all the bolts as per AIM and closed the window to within an inch of top. Make sure window is level front to back tightend up two bolts near middle as per AIM. raised window the rest of the way and tightened the rest of the bolts up. Put everything back together. Rolled up ok but when you close the door it sticks to the outside of the front windshield pillar weatherstripping :smash: Took it all apart again, realigned stuff, looks good. door closes but window wont go all the way up when door is closed  Took it all apart again, realign stuff put back together, window is loose and wont seal in the t top weatherstrip :mad took it all apart again, moved stuff around, had a beer  put back together and so far it seems ok :D . Snug fit in the back and the door closes ok. It still leaves a hairline slit at the very top if I roll the window up with the door closed but I'm hoping that as the t top weatherstrip breaks in it will seal up better.
Good luck on you endevor

Koz, funny that you should ask this question. My buddy and I just did this to his 73 following a power window repair that we did. The Assembly Instruction Manual and the GM Chassis Service Manual both have window adjustment procedures in them for your car. We had never done this before but the Chassis Service Manual tells you which bolts to loosen to move in/out, fore/aft, and more/less tilt. It took us maybe 15 minutes once the door panel was off. If you don't have the manuals for your car, they will save you valuable time trying to figure out how to do something.
