I have a '75 L82 with a 4-speed. The trans appears to be leaking at the rear, where the drive shaft is inserted. Any ideas on this? Is the seal in this location a difficult one to replace, or is it an easy fix?
Easy fix. Drop the driveshaft. pull the yoke out of the tranny and pop the seal out with a screwdriver. Knock the new one in with a hammer and block of wood. 30 minute job
Drop the drive shaft, pop the old seal out with a chisel/screwdriver, pack the back of the new seal with grease, drive it in, put the driveshaft back in. Go have a beer or 5

It seems like when I complete any project on it, when I'm done I have a beer or five. Even if its giving it one of it's winter warm up starts.
Start the motor, drink a beer, and listen to it run.
