Have to assume you mean for the rear only...255 is about the largest for front...and steer the thing.....275 45 18 sounds right for you in the rear...BUT you need move that ebrake cable outta the way, and I think you need preserve the same wheel/tire centerline...so with any sway bar and moving that brake cable the widest rim you can use is 10 ".....I have '92 vette wheels and same offsets, and so used up my 3/4 inch width to the inside.....I really hate the idea of moving wheel/tire offsets to the outside, as that stresses the hell outta those bearing hubs....methinks it's a BAD idea on any street car....
hi, that is the size I have on the rear. Corvette 2000 rims. Had to add a clip to fasten the e-brake cable to the trailing arm and I have a 3" spacer, but it fits under the wheel well.
Being that it's a '75, gonna be hard to go much beyond 255. If it were like a '78 - '82 you could probably go to 275 no problem. What's the diameter on 275-45-18? I'm going to 275-40-17 on my '81 and I've heard they fit fine.
Since I'm going to have 305/45/18 Nitto Drag Radials in the back, I'd like to put some 255/55/18 Goodyear Eagles up front. That way, they'd both be close to the same height. I know sports cars don't usually have tall tires but it would get the front end up a little and go over bumps better with the taller tire.
Just want to know if the fronts would fit even if I have to mod it.
Sorry. I actually meant for the front. I'm having the back mini-tubbed so I can get 305/45/18 Nitto Drag Radials back there.
Gonna have to do more than mini tub it to get them on the rear without flares.
A 305 needs a 11" rim, which wil need 6.5" - 7" backspace, which means moving the rear chassis rails in board.
I have fitted 18" x 8" with stock 4" backspace on front (rubs on rear of drivers side fender opening) Toyo 255/45/18" equates to stock 1968 oem tyre diameter. This is on a '68.
Rear has 18" x 9" (with the extra 1" on the inside i.e. 5" backspace) Toyo 285/40/18", again equates to stock 1968 oem tyre diameter.
This combination clears trailing arms (just) and fenders, rim inside-diameter is outside of all the spring attachment points. Retains stock parking brake cable brackets (although they are now held back lightly by cable ties, so should ideally be re-located) I did have to junk the rear sway bar (it was close, approx. 1" too wide, dosen't really do any thing anyway)
