Default brake booster bolt pattern

Just bolted up my new brake booster. When the m/c would not fit I'm thinking wtf!! The bolts on the booster are 3 3/8", the m/c is 3 1/2". I really don't want to remove the booster as it's a real PITA

Any suggestions?

Where was the booster purchased and did you make sure it was visually a direct replacement?

It's from Mid America #614548, company is MBM with a part #PB9512.

It looks just like my old one(minus all the rust) and the brake pedal bracket fit as well.

Is the only different the bore size in the flange of the master?

I have two ideas, neither of which I have had to try. One, is a different master, as that might be easier than removing that booster again. If you cannot find a master with larger bore holes, the maybe the holes in the master's flange can be bored out to match the studs.

Like I said, I have not done either but both seem viable.

That's what I was thinking. I just wanted another opinion on the booster. I'll check on a new m/c today. If I can't find one with the right bolt pattern. I'll bore out the old mount holes.

I installed the same booster. The studs on the booster to mount the master cylinder are a larger diameter than the original OEM (so were the four mounting studs that attach it to the firewall. I took a drill, (you can use a dremel too) and just slightly enlarged the two mounting holes on the master cylinder mounting flange. The MC went right on. The four mounting holes through the firewall were oversized enough.

You have the worst of it already done.

The booster uses 10mm bolts, which are slightly larger in diameter than stock. A little work with a die grinder on the master cylinder ears will allow everything to bolt up.
