I'm thinking about replacing the stock intake manifold on my 75 L48. When I bought the car it had an Edelbrock 1903, 795/cfm carb on it. This is the stock replacement for the Q-jet. The engine is basically stock. I was going to an Edelbrock 2101 or 2701. Which do you think is better?
If your replacing the stock GM L-48 intake then YES I think its a big bang for the buck. For under $200 you will get a better intake then stock and the aluminum will cut 20lbs off the engine. W/the new carb, headers & true dual exhaust you will think you have a new motor.
There may be some clearance issues with going with a different intake manifold. The 75s have a cowl induction setup. If you increase the height of the manifold too much you may run into interference with the underside of the hood.

other then weight savings from an aluminum intake....the old intakes are actually quite good.....also the aluminum intakes will require retorquing every so often.....and you never have to worry about that with the cast iron ones
Thanks for the replies. I have dual exhaust and I'm thinking of putting on headers after the engine is broke in. I upgraded the cam (Crane #100042). Mild but better than original. 30 over on the pistons.

I changed my 350-250 and added Ebrock 2101 w/o EGR, Dynomax Headers and 2 1/2 pipes w/ flowmaster 50's, and jetted the carb up three sizes. Complete different attitude! It fit's under the cowl hood with stock aircleaner.

You need the 2101 for Q-J.
The reason for so many different comments on the Performer 2101 is there are evidently 3 versions. I looked into it & got some info. for you guys.
The EPS 2701 is squarebore & better than current 2101. Edelbrock tech. on current 2101 "our current generation produces more street friendly low end torque."
Previous 2101. This shows the 2nd 2101 Performer (Chevy's bow tie intake is similar w/ Chevy logo in same place as Edelbrock logo) which Chevy said was as good as the high rise. http://ganeys.home.sprynet.com/VicJrPerf.JPG
Weiand action plus 8004 (lowrise dual plane w/QJet flange) compares favorably (if not a bit better) to current EB 2101. I have F/S a W8004 that was on a motor only for a short dyno pull ... clean & perfect condition. I'll take $90 plus ship. Email only if serious ... No pm please.
