Is this a good distributor?

I was really looking into buying this. but since it's not HEI does that mean the performance rating on it isnt as good?
Right now I am running the original distributor with a new coil, and looking to replacing it with this one.. what do you guys think about that?

well I pretty much just foudn the awnser..haha.. I ordered it today.. but anyones opion would be nice or any suggestions.. I'm a NEWB mechanic. this is my first car I ever worked on... So everything I do to it is strictly new to me...haha... seriously

I really like my MSD dist. Do you need a tach drive or is your tach electric? These are available either way. I am running the MSD tach drive dist with a MSD 6ALN box and MSD Blaster 2. Am very happy with the setup. It was a noticable difference over my stock setup.

I have a electric tach. The install illustration look simple.. I am not going with a blaster cap though. So in that case. I think I just do the whole battery to the pos /neg and then ground it and it should work....lol
