Default ATI Damper Install?

I bought this puller thing to get my stock damper off. My question is what do you guys use to get the new one back on? I have a threaded crank and I thought about using a grade 8 bolt to reinstall.

I just want to not tear up the crank snout threads because it got tight really quick and I did not want to crank on it with a 1/2 drive.

There is an installation tool. Maybe you can rent one at a parts store. Hide all your hammers until the job is done correctly.

Default Damper Installation

Most dampers that are "race" oriented must be "honed" to obtain the proper press-fit on the crank snout. This is the way they are designed.

ATI's, BHJ's, and a number of others are a "select-fit" deal. If you do not hone it I believe you may not get it on at all.

Fluidamper is one of the few that does not need to be fitted. They come with the same size I.D. as G.M.'s pieces!

Thanks guys! I went down to Harbor Freight Tools and bought the installer tool like Summit has for under $ 15

Be careful..the size issue is a real one with ATI's. Excellent part that is designed undersized so you can select fit it to YOUR crank. It will likely need to be honed.

Don't crack it trying to install it!!

Or you could make one if you have a welder. Weld two bolts together.
I've used this several times.
