Default no start 1979

please excuse this in performance section but not too much activity in general section. my 79 ran fine up to the store and back and died in the driveway. it's in good shape, garage kept, battery tender, battery about 4 years old, cables all good, put in ignition switch last year. when I turn the key , nothing happens, no click , no nothing, no lites or horn. can you point me in the right direction. I would think if the battery was bad I would have a little warning, just went from running great to nothing. thanks

Jump the battery with a good battery. If it starts, bad battery. If it doesn't start looking for the fusible link. Check to see if you have power to the starter solenoid with a test light or volt meter. No power there I realy would suspect the fusible link. It will be a fairly thick wire, like 10 guage.

Good luck.

just noticed the power antenna is up and the gauges are not at zero, so that leads me to believe battery is probably good and that a switch or fuse blew when I turned the car off. An ignition switch was put in last year(not by me)when I had a similiar problem but I got a little smoke thru the dash when that happened. Will look for fusible link.
