Key on-the pink wire at the ignition switch-if it doesnt have power with key on then the switch is bad-or misadjusted

Sounds like the switch is bad--the pink wire must be hot in the "on" and "start" positions.

The switch is controlled by a rod that goes up to the key.Sometimes the rod doesnt move the switch far enough to make contact.
edit- if your radio comes on in the on position then it is adjusted ok

Yes it should move when you rotate the key.

is it possible that this rod is my problem? when this rod moves does it create a contact that will put power to the pink wire going to the ignition?

The rod a slide inside the switch where the contacts are.It doesnt make sense that it would cause the engine stop "after " it was already running. Are you looking at the correct rod there is one for the high beams?Does the radio come on ?

the rod i am looking at is connected just underneath the ignition switch, i think you maybe right, i just pulled the high beam lever and held onto the rod at the same time and then it moved. so back to the begining, i am not sure where the rod is that you are speaking of? if poser was lost to the pink wire, would that cause the engine to shutdown?

Yes loss of power to the pink wire would shutdown the engine.

If the radio is coming on the switch is being moved but the contacts are probably burnt. The power window relay is actvated by the pink wire.Once you get power to the pink wire that should fix the windows.

You can loosen the bolts going through the firewall and also looson the the rag joint bolts-that should drop it a couple of inches
