Hello any help appreciated. I have a oppurtinuty to purchase a 79 corvette, colored tops, 350 crate motor, blck interor, auto trans, spoiler, ralleye wheels, sport mirrors, however was told tilt steering wheel will not work and the air conditioning needs to be recharged could this be because of a leak in the air conditioning they are asking 15,000 for this car is this a good price first time im buying a vette.

Sounds very high to me. Check-out prices on ebay for similar years as a good indication as to what the market is.
As far as the tilt not working. Sounds like a rebuild of the column is needed. The AC not working is no big deal. Compressors are $159 to $200...plus another $100 for R-12. Unless the evap core is leaking...then the entire dash will need to come apart. VERY expensive to pay to have someone do....lots and lots of labor involved.

if you are interested I have an 81 that has been 99% restored 76k miles new paint, silver/dark gray botom ,glass ttops ,new interior .rebuilt auto trans .rear. and trailing arms .NO EMMISION CONTROLS .Edelbrock performer intake and carb. car is in southeastern Florida..

if you are interested I have an 81 that has been 99% restored 76k miles new paint, silver/dark gray botom ,glass ttops ,new interior .rebuilt auto trans .rear. and trailing arms .NO EMMISION CONTROLS .Edelbrock performer intake and carb. car is in southeastern Florida..
