Ok, yesterday I was cruising around in my 80 Vette and this buzzing sound started coming from the rear of the car and it started doing this every 30 minutes and would shut off about a minute later. Is this my alarm going off or what?
Is this a trick question, cause you sure did not give us much to go on. Sounds like the problems my wife comes up with "there's a noise and it goes rattle-rattle every now and then - but only once a month or so....". Maybe your's was a bee in it's dying throes....
Your car has a closed loop fuel system for evaporation. Is there a pressure relief or one way pressure valve near the tank that could buzz when the either the tank gets hot and expands, or when it has to pull air in to replace the volume of gas consumed? You might try driving with the gas cap loose to see if it makes any difference. It might even be the cap seal. Just a thought.
I like Chucks idea. I always hear this very slight buzz when I get into my garage shut the car off and close the big door. When I take the fuel cap off it goes away. No lies, this happens every time I put the car away after it's been out cruising for awhile. Until I read this thread I had no clue what it could have been caused by.
