Their shipping charges are very high. Check out what they will charge before you buy.

That's where I ordered my hi-torque gear drive starter. No problems here.

Compare prices with Scoggin-Dickey. Be sure to include shipping charges in your comparison.

gmpartsdirect shipped $70.32 and Scoggin Dickey $86.00 , looks like I'll go with gmpartsdirect.

GM parts direct charges shipping for each individual item. A order with multiple items, the shipping can climb fast

I found the same problem with GM parts direct, I wanted to order a $25.77 part and shipping was $25.00. What are the other choices?

Do your research. I have bought from GM Parts direct and been happy with parts, shipping cost and good service. These guys are competitive, http://www.gmpartscheap.com/ and there are times that the best deals may be from one of the regular Vette parts vendors. Take a little time to shop around. Jeg's and Summit have put mom and pop race parts places all over the country out of business with their prices.

Try www.gmotors.com, much more reasonable shipping charges than gmpartsdirect.

I compared the identical part with GM parts direct and gmpartscheap was 15% higher. I couldn't compare shipping since I believe I had to register to get a quote.

gmpartsdirect is even worse about returns! I bought a pair of W/S wiper blades from them - called to be SURE they were the correct height and was assured they were the "correct" wipers. They were not - hit the wiper door and other things - way too tall. Called them back to ask for a refund. Wouldn't budge from a 20% restock fee - even though they were not correct - and I would be responsible for all shipping. I ended up keeping them anyway because I would have ended up paying for the blades and not had them!! You can get anything they offer elsewhere and as the other folks have said, if you really shop, you can do better just about all the time elsewhere. I have even paid a little more just to avoid them!

Yep, same thing happened to me. They sent me a part which was not as described and they socked me with a 20% restock fee and I had to pay the return shipping. Never bought another thing from them after that. Plenty of other places out there. Try "thepartsladi" on eBay, he/she is fair on shipping and price for any GM part.

Here's a link if you are interested.

I too have used Dobles. Bought ZZ4 from them for $3800 delivered. NO tax, NO shipping charges, Just $3800. I have bought other things like Mini-starter and wire set, and there allways on the lower end of price scale. Rick or Doug, in parts, are good people.

Since I was shopping around anyway I thought I'd share with you a little comparission from suggested parts suppliers on this thread.

I'm in the process of pricing the parts needed to convert my vacume headlight system to electrical via firebird and corvette parts.
Using the GM Part #'s listed on the McSpeed website I've have the below results.

Firebird headlight motors (all GM brand new in box):
GMParts Direct: $219.87 (including 39.65 shipping/handling (S/H))
GM Parts Cheap: $259.95
Ebay (thepartsladi): $161 (no S/H on this item) sweeeeet
GMPartsHouse.com : $207.95 (not including s/h)

Headlight Control Module (vette):
GMParts Direct: $136.96 (including 24.70 S/H)
GM Parts Cheap: $134.92
GMPartsHouse.com : $142.09 ( including 12.56 s/h)

Headlight switch (vette)
GMParts Direct: $34.68 (including 9.95 s/h)
GM Parts Cheap: $35.67
Ebay (thepartsladi) $26.00 (including $6 s/h)
GMPartsHouse.com: $28.54 (not including s/h)

Weatherpack pigtails (firebird)
GMParts Direct: $34.61 (including 9.95 s/h)
GMParts Cheap: 35.55
GMPartsHouse.com: $36.49 (including 7.95 s/h)

I conclude GMParts Cheap is not cheap at all, I call for misadvertisment and GMParts Direct bends you over on shipping / handling charges.
Ebay is always cheaper but you've got to be careful.

I work right down the street from Dobles. Can you hook me up with him if I need something in the future?
