Is anyone here using this pump? It looks promising the fact that there is no wiring makes it more appealing. Did some reading the forum they have and it seems to work well.
I had one fail on me last week on the freeway. Lost all fuel pressure. My theory is that it is not too good on fuel draw. Lost it's prime and would never recover. May work on most applications, just not mine. They have a note on their website about not having too large an input line from the fuel tank.Switched back to the Carter mechanical and all is fine. Looks like an expensive mistake on my part.
wow sorry to hear that the tank is rather high in a vette especially where the fuel comes out of the tank (on top) that was probably a contributing factor. This pump will be for my nova with a sump at the bottom of the tank so I wonder if the same problem would be a factor. Is it a Big Block pump?
I think the pump is efficient pumping out, but they mention in the literature that a large inlet line would not have sufficient velocity to keep the pump primed.
It comes with a #10 fitting, but my 'Vette has #8 line from the adapter at the tank bung to the pump. IIRC, they say not to use anything bigger than #10 fuel line.
What about some of the Mallory Pro Comp pumps like the Pro Comp 140?
Not a real expensive high tech electric pump but I know they have been around for a long time. I knew a guy that had one in a big block Camaro that was not noisey at all. He had it setup with a return style of regulator which he said helped the pump run cooler and also always kept the fuel flowing to the front of the car. Just another option maybe.
That is a good pump and it would be one of my choices if I don't go with the race pump. two friends of mine also run the magniflows not to noisy and the support a good amount of h.p. all the wiring sucks tho.
Thanks Guru I herd lots of positive about the pump the above post was the first negative that I heard but thats what the forum is for to hear the good and bad. Good luck with your new motor.
