Will these work in any 350 block, or do I need a newer model block? I'm not sure if the lifter bores are a different size with these hydraulic roller lifters.
Depends on what you have. OEM stuff use a separate piece commonly referred to as a "dogbone" that keeps the lifters aligned. These only work on factory blocks that are machined to accept them since they have to be perfectly flat across the top of the lifter bores. Big and small blocks use lifters that are the same diameter and height but they're not interchangeable because of the orientation of the retainer dog bones. These lifters are also taller than OEM hydraulic flat tappets. Then there are "retrofit" lifters that use a link bar of some sort to keep them facing the right direction. These fit non-OEM roller blocks. You can get tall link bar style to fit the taller bores of later model blocks and aftermarket blocks but you generally only see these in solid rollers for race applications. They found out that the taller lifters actually help with the side loads big blocks put on the bores since the valves are splayed.
The Chevy 2.8L V6 hydraulic roller lifters will work in a early block with moderate lift cams (under .580 lift.) Some guy on Ebay made good $$ selling instructions for the conversion, I giving it to you for free.

The conversion to new style roller lifters consists of grinding the outer casting around the lifter bores so the dog bones fit over the lifter bore. Then drilling the crown of the lifter valley for three bolts that hold the bog bone retainer in. Block should be bare to do so safely.

As mentioned above, LT1 lifters are too tall. You must use the V6 lifters. When you use the V6 lifters, you must also use 7.5" push rods, as they need to be longer to make up for the shorter lifters.
