i have a friend that has told me to have my intake jet hot coated inside and out. he says it will flow better and will look good on the outside also. is this a good idea? has anyone tried it? does this stuff flake off at all? very currious if anyone else had done this and what the responces will be before i try it myself.
I can't speak about intakes but I had my exhaust manifolds Jet Hot coated 10 years ago and they still look good without any maintenance! If is can sustain the heat of an exhaust mainfold, there shouldn't any flaking problems on an intake.
I coated my 6-71 blower intake and my 144 blower intake on my 400 ci sbc's. It looks great, cleans up easy, and I figured it would minimize heat transfer. I think it's a great idea. I didn't do the inside of the runners, just the outside of the manifolds (top and bottom).

thanks for the input guys. i guess i will give it a shot. i am going to try it on the intake runners. i was not too worried about the exterior. i am wondering if the constant exposure to gas would affect it. 10 years is a very good indicator of the durability so i feel more confident with doing it.
