Hi France. Yes, it is possible that your exhaust is too close to the spring. The mono-spring I installed failed after about 2 years. Luckly it broke when I was about a half block from my home and only going about 25mph. I heard a very loud bang, much like a shotgun, and then rear dropped. The spring broke on one side near where the exhaust pipe runs. It may have been at fault, because if I had looked at it earlier, I would have noticed the black rubberized coating was wrinkling because of the heat. The pipe wasn't touching, but it probably was no more than 1/2 inch of clearance.
I then bought a TRW spring that had a heat-shield. It has been on for about 12 years and 120,000 miles, with no problems.

I'm not sure if you can buy just the heat shield, but you could make one. It is basically a piece of thin sheetmetal that bolts between the spring plate and spacer, and extends about 8 to 10 inches on each side, and about 1 inch front and rear. The spacer between the spring and spring-plate on my setup is about 1/2 inch thick, puting the heat-shield about 1/2 inch below the spring. My exhaust is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the heat-shield. Sorry I don't have a pic.
With 2 1/2 exhaust stock exhaust, three inches of clearance is not possible. At least not on mine.
There is a sample on Muskegon Brake web in hte Suspension section.

Thank you. Someone tell me that it need long bolts with TRW spring for a corvette because the leaf is too bended .
It comes with a 8inch long bolt, Mine sits up about an 1/2inch higher now then it did with the old spring. My bolts on the old spring were 6-3/4inch long
