Door latch stuck on '77
Ok, first of all, I'll start by saying, yes, I have used the search feature.
Nevertheless, my door remains shut. It started with me not being able to open it from the outside. No problem, happened before, just a spring that wasn't quite in place. Before I got a chance to fix that, it stopped opening from the inside as well.
After reading some old threads, I managed to get my door panel off and played around with everything.
I tried pushing down on the part which should have made the door pop open. (red arrow, right?) No luck. I noticed some parts of the outer door handle seemed to have broken off.
Then I went for a search in the door and found these:
I know that's the spring that had slipped out of place 2 years ago, but don't know what the other part is.
Now I've mentally prepared that I will most likely have to cut the striker, but I wanted to ask first if anyone has any other ideas to try. Could it be that the latch won't let go because of the broken outer door handle? Any other possibilities?
