A couple years ago my front calipers went bad and I took them to a local guy for a fix. Now the rears are leaking and I'm planning on doing them myself, and I've got a couple questions.
First, is there any way at all to avoid the four-piston setup? I've heard they are a major pain in the a$$ to bleed, and a two-piston might be just as effective.
Second, where do I buy a nice set that will be reliable...as in NO LEAKING for the next couple years! I'm thinking stainless steel and not cast in China, if possible.
Check out www.vbandp.com. They have kits and individual calipers. If you are changing the calipers, and the brake lines are a few years old I would recommend getting a kit and replacing everything. Thay way you won't be going back and working on your brakes again for a while. Also, buy a Motive pressure bleeder. VBP has a good price on them too. I have had the same VBP SS sleeved calipers on my vette since 1983 and have only had to rebuild the fronts once. Haven't had to touch the rear ones. I don't think you could beat that for reliability.
