Well after two days of fiddling with the back of the car I finally got the Dragvette 6-link installed. It wasn't that hard to do and I don't even have a lift. It would have been a little easier with one but jack stands did just fine. I ran into a few fitment issues where the outer safety hoop mounts to the spindle. I got an entire trailing arm assembly and I thing the camber rod mount was a little different than the original. I had to grind a little material off of the safety hoop mount to get it pushed all the way in. In order to mount the safety hoop at the top of VB&Ps offset trailing arm you have to drill 2 holes for the mounting hardware and let me tell you.... It's some hard metal! Not to mention I was using a dull drill bit. I also had a problem connecting the stud girdle in the center with the logo on it. The holes didn't line up so I had to enlongate the holes, and loosen the brackets on the cover to get them started. Other than that it fits real tight and I'm very happy with the way everything else went together. Steve over at Dragvette is a real friendly character and I've spoken to him on several occasions before I got the 6-link. He even includes an instructional DVD to watch before the install so you know what to do before hand.
As far as handling is concerned, the only difference on the street is that the rear dosen't squat nearly as much as it did before. I will have to get a set of slicks mounted on a set of extra wheels and get to the track to do a real test. Here is a little video I made after the install with a little comments.
You will like it. Mine is a little different due to the dual mount spring but I also had to do a little adjusting of some of the components. My safety hoop hit the battery box on full suspension travel. I had to move the hoop further back on the trailing arm. No interference now.
I literally just got off the phone with Steve @ Dragvette and ordered the 6 link system as well. I can't wait to try it out on the street and the track hoping that this will help cure my wheel hop problem.
Were you able to install with the body still on? Do you think it was worth the cost and effort?

Definetly worth it. And yes I did the install with the body on. If I had to do it again it wouldn't take as long as the first time. I had company over during the weekend and I was taking long breaks to hang with them. It should have only taken me one full day to get it in and adjust it. I recommend anyone who goes this route to get a digital level so you can accuratly set the camber. I got mine at Sears Hardware for $33. I learned this after the kit came and I watched the DVD. It's kinda hard to measure the half shaft with the level I got, it was too long (12") as opposed to the one that Steve showed in his video that fit on top of the shaft and didn't hit the hoops. I had to find two equal length ratchet extensions and attach them to the built in magnets on the level to get the clearance from the hoops on top. The lower rod is easy to measure and I got lucky that both were set up perfect the way I happened to install them. As long as you adjust the lower rod to exactly the same length as the half shaft it should be at the same angle.

Steve is a great guy, real easy to talk to. The times that I've talked to him we spent at least an hour just talking about Vettes and our war stories.

Yeah, the end of the bolts that mount to the top of the T/A looked like it was going to hit the bump stop mount. Since I don't have the rubber bumper anymore I just took a sawzall to them just to make sure. I still might have to trim the bolt ends but now the squat is completly gone when powerbraking for a launch! Unbelievable! I used the supplied 8" spring bolts and I still have to get it a little lower on the pass side. The pass side only has like 1/4" of threads left though. I had the 10" bolts in but I had to cut them because they were too long, so that's why I tried the 8"s.
Cool - keep us posted. BTW, I would keep on eye on this for cracks around the base. It doesn't look as strong as it should be (might be me, I like things HD)

Thanks for the headsup, I do a weekly inspection on everything before I drive. In the DVD Steve mentions what the NHRA requires for a safety hoop and the outer hoop meets that criteria. As for the inner hoop that's just for good measure and isn't required at the track. I think he pretty much covered everything but he encourages people to give feedback.
Everytime I put something new on the car I scrutinize till I'm satisfied, and still after that I recheck it anyway. I've had good strong parts fail on me before and I'm not talking about the vette, in my motocross career all I did was work on my bike everyday during the week and then beat the crap out of it at races and then the whole process starts over again during the week. At least with the vette nothing gets mudded up and I don't have to wash any dirty clothes anymore.
awesome...thanks for posting the vid!!! I look forward to hearing your thoughts after going to the track...
Not this weekend (Memorial day) but next weekend I'll be going to Englishtown to see what she does. The only day I have off is Sunday and I want to address anything else on the car before I make the half hour trip down there. I don't know if there is any interior requirements because I don't have any door panels or carpet yet. I'm waiting till after the paint to that. So I hope they don't say anything about it.
Let us know, I have his original "Drag-Vette" kit and it has worked great, I have been waiting for him to finish the 6-link kit, and it looks like its done.
