Don't know if this has been covered here before but I'll post it anyway. I'm sure a lot of you have side view mirrors that won't hold position on your early C3. A Vette mechanic gave me a tip to fix that and it worked perfectly.
First remove the mirror from the car (duh). Take a center punch and hammer and lightly hammer several small dents into the pivot ball around were the mirror edge will catch them. The ball is soft so it doesnt take much force. Then work the mirror around and see if it is snug, if not hammer in a few more. I just did this today on my 71 and I am pleased to say my mirror is as solid as ever.
