Default F-Body Steering Rack

I purchased a LS1 engine yesterday for my 76 Vette. While spending "quality time" with the 02' Z28 donor car, I was brainstorming on how to adapt the Z28 Rack steering into my C3. It looks an just like a Steeroids unit, plus, it will hook right up to my LS1 PS pump. I going back Monday to pick up the rack and steering components and I'm definetly going to attempt it.
I was just wondering if any of you have already done it???? If so, what's up???

I think Steeroids acutally uses a late model GM rack (I may be wrong). With $$$$ anything is possible. This would be a good mod to document and post if you get it to work. Good luck

I have NO CLUE as to what a late F body has for a steering rack, BUT the rack Steeroids and I used are the same unit, and it fits a '99? Grand Am.....rear steer, but I used just two universals in my install...

they used 3 with lotsa adjustments....I bet you can use a similar rack and fab your own mounts same as I did and make something work...IF that F body rack is CTO....it's probably the same thing...assuming rear steer....

The F-car rack was an end-take-off, front steer. I don't think that there is any chance of it fitting into a C3.

Yeah, if it's a front steer, you're SOL for use in a stock suspension C3. (I've been combing junkyards for months trying to find a suitable rack for my C4 suspension transplant. I need a very narrow front steer rack, and haven't found a suitable one yet.)
Thank Jim for his info. It looks like he saved you some possible wasted time and money.

I remember in '01 right around 9/11, I wuz scouring junkyards good and proper for quite a while looking for a rear steer rack, and found nothing even similar close...no matter what/how/thoughts/nuttin....

I never considered switching knuckles around R/L and doing it that way, because at that time I hav no room up front there, NOW of course I DO, on account of the dual Spal fans, took out so much wasted area I put to good use for some other stuff....
