The judge threw out the charges since the officer that pulled me over wasn't on the police force anymore. A three hour drive each way and about $50 in gas and food was well worth it.
No ticket, no points :yesnod:, no fine , and no insurance rate hike! :D
How about " The rest of the story ", why wasn't he on the force, when did his discharge happen (before or after your ticket), come on let's hear it
I learned quite a bit about the traffic court system while preparing to fight my ticket. Next time I'll go in there with the expectation that I will lose and then appeal. The DA was a moron, who basically told me before the trial that since laser was used there was no possible way the officer could have 'missed' :bs. The judge was a jarhead, hell-bent on a guilty verdict and not interested in any evidence I had to offer. He listened patiently to the officer's rehearsed schtick but interrupted me, told me numerous times to sit down and shut up and declared my photographs of the scene 'irrelevant' :mad.
The people who work traffic courts are the bottom of the barrel. They're the attorneys who barely made it through law school and the judges who just weren't competent enough to earn a better appointment.
As this point I'm discontent but I don't have the money to pursue a lawyer and an appeal. I'm still studying courtroom procedure in the event I'm robbed again at the point of a lidar gun. I still believe in fighting every ticket, but next time I won't go in with the naive notion that I'll be granted a fair trial.
Congrats for winning, technicalities are an ace in the hole, and sometimes the ONLY way to win (even though you can woo the court of public opinion).
I understand what you're saying about these judges and cops. I live in a part of the country where the judges and cops are all corrupt, immoral, liars and crooks, so you had better just hope and pray you don't get pulled over because if you do you're instantly guilty. I have been lucky and never been pulled over until now, but around here they don't need a reason to write a guy a ticket. I see why your discontent with the whole system.
