Hey Guys,
I have really learned alot from this forum, but now I have a problem that has me stumped that I hope someone will have a simple fix for...
I bought a set of the ProForm Wire Looms that run the ignition wires parallel to the valve covers. I unbolted the 2 lower bolts from the valve cover and then tried to bolt the wire loom to the valve cover but the top of the header sticks up about in inch higher than where the bolt would make contact with the valve cover so I can't tighten the bolt.
I tried to use a spacer so the wire loom would be above the header, but then the bolt wasn't long enough the meet the threads under the valve cover.
Are there valve cover bolt extensions or extra long bolts, or what have some of you done if you ran into this problem? Thanks for any help or guidance that can be given.
Yes, you can get longer bolts from a hardware store. There are even stores that just sell fasteners. They usually have stainless, too. Get a grade 5 or 8 bolt. Avoid the grade 2 bolts, they are too soft.
Lowes or Ace Hardware has a good selection on bolts that you can use, much better than say Home Depot, or as bondoboy suggested, find a nut & bolt distributor. The area you live in, you should not have any problem locating.
You got a pic of your problem? I'm trying to imagine what your issue is...My headers come out of the heads and go down with the looms pointed up from the valve cover like below (not my engine):
Thanks for the replys and suggestions, went to Lowe's, got longer bolts and 'spacers', and the wire loom fits perfectly. If I get a chance after I get the new ignition wires, I'll try to post a pic.
Thanks again guys!
