I don't know, but just received my cut pile from ACC and apparantly I will need some kind of glue when I go to install it. Where do I get the glue and what kind works good? How much do I need. Can I use REFLECTIX foil insulation from my local menards as a heat insulation under the carpet?

Hi there,
Try your local (domestic) carpet shop. They use spray cans of glue when fitting carpets, which also works well in cars. 1 large can should be enough. I think it may be made by 3M? (sometimes the same thing has different trade names on opposite sides of the Atlantic). I used to use it to hold carpet tiles down in shops & offices & they stayed stuck down, even after years of use.
If you do use it, DON'T try spraying it in the car!!! It gets everywhere.

They're made from the same stuff. Cut pile is loop carpet on which the loops have been cut. It's a matter of personal choice as to which looks the best. While the old carpet is out and before the new stuff goes in, I recommend the installation of a heat barrier kit. Get one from the aftermarket providers or make your own, but put one in. They work and will reduce your "Fish Feet."
:)
First off.. Do not buy that cheap carpet from the vendors....Buy your own with good heat barrier from an upholstry shop and cut it to fit there is a thread from a month or so ago on how I did this...I put in cut pile Mercedes benz carpet and cut it to fit and it turned out fantastic..I have pics in the photopoint in my sig that show before after and during shots
Completely Re-did my Carpet front to back..Without buying a Precut Piece is the name of the thread
If you have a Home Depot, or any hardware store, you can get your heat barier foil there. Save a few $$$ . After I pulled my old carpet out, I used it as a pattern to cut my foil. Worked out well.
Just finished the carpet in my 77 about 2 weeks ago. I mistakenly bought the ACC stuff in that I was very dissapointed in the quality. The fit was great and so was the color consistancy, and I didn't have much trimming to do. I used 3-M brand #77 spray adhesive in strategic spots to hold it to the heat barrier, worked well!! Be sure to insulate the tunnel as high as you can go.
I removed the original carpet when I did the job, and found the factory installed heat barrier UPSIDE DOWN!!! Use the old carpet pieces as a template if you want... it does help. Another thing I found, was that the new padding had to be removed from under the shoulder harness retractors on the rear wheel humps, and from under the front seat rails of both seats. The bolts wouldn't fit otherwise. Hope I helped you some... good luck

I just installed my new carpet last weekend. Don't underestimate the advantages of pre-molded carpet. Installation was a breeze. Looks pretty good too! :yesnod:
I bought the interior package, including carpet, from Corvette America. They have a special going on now where you send them your seats and they'll put the foam and new seats covers on labor free. They should be shipped back to my house pretty soon now.
I'm about to take out my carpet for the second time to return it to ACC for the second time so that when they send me the THIRD set ai can then install the ACC replacement carpet for a THIRD TIME.
I might just sell the ACC crapola on eBay and order the good stuff from Romeo Engineering instead. You've got to give ACC credit for trying though. They just have like zippo quality control and morons filling the orders sending the wrong stuff / color / year - which of course I didn't realize - until after I found out that sometime after 1970 the rear firewall in the storage area moved forward about 4" - making the later carpet sets about 4" too short in my '70. Gawd only knows why it didn't fit in front. :smash:
