Default Caliper replace/rebuild while keeping car original

As some of you may know, I have a largely original 72 LT-1 vert. The car isn't driven much, hence the calipers need rebuilding occasionally. Are the calipers date stamped or coded such that I would adversely affect the car's value by purchasing stainless sleeved calipers with o-rings and giving up mine as a cores?

If anyone has used a service that rebuilds there calipers with stainless sleeves and o-rings, who was it and what was the price and your experience?

Thanks!

You should send your calipers out to get rebuilt. Just tell whomever that you want yours back. I would be carefull about who you send them too though. Yeah there are a lot of caliper rebuilders but not all use a good micron finish on there caliper sleeves. Better micron finishes do a couple things. 1)They reduce piston seal wear. 2) It allows the pistons to return easier. 3) Gives you more constistant braking.

I can rebuild your calipers. We offer 10% off to forum members. You can just the calipers rebuilt or you can get it in a kit with new pads, hoses and steel lines.

FWIW: Send your originals to Dan and have Van Steel rebuild them.

TTT - Where are date codes stamped on early C3 calipers and how do you read/interpret them?

The date codes are on each caliper half near the bolts that hold them together.

OK, removed the driver side wheels read the numbers. Below is what I recorded. Can someone decode them or direct me to an accurate decoder (e.g. website)?

The labels and numbers are not positioned on the calipers in the same order as I listed them below. Also, some of the numbers may be off (e.g. a 3 read as an 8) becuase they were difficult to read.

If the 4 digit numbers are the date codes (my suspicion based on location), they're not consistent and some of these calipers must have been replaced. However, the 4 digit numbers on the inner halves of the calipers were in the center (not near the bolts that hold the halves together). Thx!

Left front
Outside of caliper: Delco Morraine, 5473786, 8202
Inside of caliper: 5473786, 7157

Left rear
Outside of caliper: Delco Morraine, 5473807, R3
Inside of caliper: 5473806, 3386

Right front
Inside of caliper: 5473795, 9247

Right rear
